01

Mission

Knight-Hennessy Scholars is a graduate scholarship community at Stanford University. It states that it has no restrictions based on age, college or university, field of study or career aspiration.

02

What you get

The scholarship funds a fellowship applied to tuition and fees, a stipend for living and academic expenses, and a travel stipend for one annual economy-class trip to Stanford. Funding runs for up to three years for graduate degrees at Stanford. The page does not state a dollar amount for the stipend. Newly enrolling scholars also get a one-time stipend for moving or technology, and second- and third-year scholars can apply for enrichment funds. The pages do not mention health insurance.

03

Who can apply

You must be admitted to and enrol in a full-time Stanford graduate degree programme, such as an MBA, JD, MD or PhD. For the 2027 cohort you must have earned your bachelor's degree or equivalent in January 2020 or later, so a first bachelor's from 2019 or earlier rules you out. Holding a graduate degree already is fine. No college endorsement is required. KHS encourages citizens and residents of all countries to apply, and does not list a work requirement.

04

What they look for

The pages read list no selection criteria beyond the stated eligibility. Finalists are invited to a finalist experience.

05

The fine print

The 2027 cohort deadline was 6 October 2026, and the application is closed. The 2028 cohort application opens in summer 2027. Honors Cooperative Program, Master of Liberal Arts and coterminal degrees are not eligible.
